4 Years After (my) Petrucciani

Posted: January 5th, 2010 | Author: Dana Pascu | Filed under: Arte, Personal, [EN] | Tags: , , | 1 Comment »

Four years ago, Petrucciani sealed a beautiful yet painful relationship between two people who could’ve moved mountains if only they wanted to. But they didn’t. With a gun barrel between his teeth he only spoke in vowels. That’s all I remember. Drowned in his own stupidity he continues to ruin his life with a fake smile on his face. Desperately trying to be happy. Just being a copy of a copy. Of a copy. Never really alive, never really dead [...] I guess he never got it. Good bye, Bob!

(Michel Petrucciani’s last concert was in Bucharest, december 1998, just one week before he passed away)

My Commitments for 2010

Posted: December 31st, 2009 | Author: Dana Pascu | Filed under: Life, Personal, [EN] | Tags: , | No Comments »

I’ve grown up so much in 2009 because I began to understand what really makes me happy. And found optimism in that. I am actually pretty enthusiastic about 2010 because I am sure it will bury the “less is more” placebo idea. Here’s what I’m gonna do about it, plus a rough timing:

  • Find and move into a proper “apartment for two” – January
  • Adopt a puppy dog (or two) – February
  • Read new books – All year long
  • Recycle – All year long
  • Quit smoking – By end of 2010
  • Swim – All year long
  • Go to Japan – July
  • Prevail happy and healthy – All year long

For the next year and beyond: More is more, baby!

10 tips to stay sane during the Holidays

Posted: December 16th, 2009 | Author: Dana Pascu | Filed under: Life, Misc, Personal, [EN] | Tags: , , | 1 Comment »

Christmas and the New Year.

At first glance we get really enthusiastic about all the fun and spare time we’re going to have. But on a second thought we take a closer look and meet: apocalyptic traffic conditions, freak series of people avalanches in stores, freezing butts whilst trying to smoke, money never enough for all the presents you need.. etc

Here are a few tips for staying sane while “hell” happens for the rest of us:

10. Make a 1 day action plan and stick to it

This includes shopping for presents, food, decorations, tree and all. The hype begins and ends for you in less than 24 hours. Then all you have to do is enjoy!

9. Breathe

Extra TLC does wonders for your mind and body (especially while waiting in queues).

8. Delegate

Start the process by matching up your tasks with family or friends who may be able to handle them. A simple table can help you along in making these decisions.

7. Be happy

This is not meant to be a stressful time of year, remember what it’s all about the family getting together,
having fun and enjoying your time together. Keep close some chocolate also :)

6. Take a break

Nap, sit, read, meditate, anything but make sure you take some quality time for yourself.

5. Enjoy mess

At least a little bit. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect and you already know that.

4. Set a spending limit

Because it’s so easy to get carried away. After all,  Christmas is about giving, but you shouldn’t give to the point where you are going to need to have others help you to pay off the debts that you incur.

3. Avoid last minute deals

Trust me. It may sound a little crazy, but it makes a lot of sense. When you enter the stores you will be hit with an array of offers and tempting treats. The problem here is that it is very easy to overspend on your planned budget, which will be especially bad if Christmas has already squeezed your wallet dry.

2. Relax

Researchers say that people find the holiday season very stressful, reporting that they are most worried about arguing with a family member, accidentally insulting a family member, or forgetting to buy a present for someone. Disasters won’t happen if you relax. I promise.

1. Be thankful

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back and a place to sleep.. you are richer than 75% of this world. Merry Christmas!

Last Week’s Firsts

Posted: November 2nd, 2009 | Author: Dana Pascu | Filed under: Misc, Personal | Tags: , | No Comments »

  • facut pentru prima oara chestionare auto sub 22 puncte. (desi am carnet de 5 ani si conduc, nu ma-ncurc :)
  • savurat primele castane coapte
