Kon’s work was pretty fantastic, and I’m definitely sad there won’t be more of it. The work of Kon (and of course Miyazaki) is one of the few who still manages to convey the freshness, strangeness, and wonder that I used to get when I first watched, say, Akira and felt like my eyes were going to pop out of their sockets.

Burton’s version will be a sort-of sequel in which a 17-year-old Alice returns to Wonderland, allowing for a darker, more adult-orientated vision that takes in characters and storylines from both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter,  looks scary enough to have most small children running screaming from the room in terror.

You do rather wonder if the Disney executives knew exactly what they were getting themselves into when they hired Tim Burton, the maverick mastermind behind Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and Corpse Bride, to take on Lewis Carroll’s famous tale, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, a classic of children’s storytelling since its publication in 1865. Certainly, if they were expecting something cosy and comfortable, bright and dreamlike, they are going to be rather disappointed. Burton’s version, shot in a mix of live action and performance capture CGI, looks dark as all hell, lurid, and unearthly. It also looks pretty fabulous!

“Alice in Wonderland” directed by Tim Burton from the script by Linda Woolverton is scheduled to hit theaters on March 5th, 2010 in both Disney Digital 3D as well as regular 2D.

An August 8 Productions film, Banksy’s Coming for Dinner was written, produced and directed by Ivan Massow, with Editing by Ben Friend and Huw Jenkins (Emmy® Award Winning Editor), Assistant Editing by John William Dunlea, Alexandria Pickering and Monica Alonso as Line Production and Ruth Newman as Consultant Director.

Post-production facilities were supplied by Infinia in Barcelona and BRF Productions in Los Angeles. Filming facilities were supplied by ProCam TV, London with Saul Gittens as Director of Photography. Sound facilities were supplied by Total Audio Solutions, London with Paul Scurrell as Sound Supervisor.

Dincolo de faptul ca sponsorul principal a “canibalizat” evenimentul (in loc sa aiba o prezenta de bun simt, Vodafone a sarit pe oameni inca de la intrare cu sondaje de opinie, apoi cu promotii stupide – daca luai o reincarcare de 4 $ primeai cadou 5 cartele sim, samd), atmosfera a fost asa cum trebuie. Si-au facut aparitia toti culeanu din advertising si “urban underground”, au urmarit cuminti cele 12 filmulete ca apoi sa socializeze la o tigara.

Filmele au inceput cu aproxiativ o jumatate de ora intarziere si chiar daca locurile s-au ocupat in totalitate cred ca proiectia a fost pe deplin savurata doar de catre cei din primul rand. Ceilalti au pierdut cu siguranta si subtitrarile si detaliile din cauza ecranului prea mic.

Majoritatea scurt-metrajelor pot fi vazute si aici.

Dupa vizionare cred ca toata lumea a simtit un imbold cat de mic sa participe si la competitie.

Gentutele hand made, fabricate din bannerul de la editia trecuta, costau 50 de lei si erau prea mari (cel putin pentru mine).

Dupa proiectie, TRG si SEB, “cea mai de succes combinatie din electro-ul romanesc”..s-au auzit asa de prost in sala improvizata in cat am plecat dupa cateva piese.
